DO YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT ONLINE DRIVERS EDUCATION?

Taking drivers education online shouldn't be difficult or confusing. If you have a question about how to get your permit or how the course works, you've come to the right place! We've answered some of the most frequently asked questions about our program, like "How much is drivers ed?" and "Is this course DMV approved?," in one place for your convenience.

Am I required to take a California driver education course?

If you are between the ages of 15½ and 17½, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) requires that you complete 30-hour driver education in order to get a California learners permit.

Why should I take online drivers ed instead of a classroom course?

Our California online drivers education offers benefits and convenience you won't find in traditional classroom courses. Rather than making time for a scheduled class, online courses allow you study when it is convenient for you. Plus, online courses are generally a less expensive option when compared to in-person training.

I've never taken an online course before. What is it like? How does it work?

Online courses offer a very convenient way to learn. Our program is very simple to follow and will teach you everything you need to know to be a safe, confident driver. After you register, you will be able to log on and off as you please. You will read through the California drivers education curriculum, which is enhanced with images, animations, and videos, and answer journal questions and quizzes to prove comprehension. You will have unlimited chances to pass each quiz. Once you've completed the entire program, we will send you a certificate of completion that can be taken to the DMV when you are ready to take your permit exam. We even provide a free practice test to make sure you are ready!

Is this course approved by the California Department of Motor Vehicles?

Yes. Our course has been approved by the California DMV and meets all state requirements. You can view our DMV license (#E4608) at any time.

How long is the course? Do I have to do it all at once?

The DMV requires that all drivers education courses in the state of California be a minimum of 30-hours in length. Because the DMV limits students to 7.5 hours of training per day, the course will take at least four days to complete. Aside from that limitation, you can finish the course at your own pace and take breaks as often as you like.

What if I fail a quiz or the final exam?

If you fail a quiz or the final exam you will be allowed to review the material and try again. You will have unlimited chances to pass each section.

How do I get my certificate of completion?

Once you've passed the final exam, your certificate of completion will be processed and mailed to you. You will need this certificate when you go to the DMV for your California learners permit test.

How do I access the practice permit exam?

Your practice permit exam will be accessible right from your student account. When you are ready to practice you may do so online at any time that is convenient for you.

How do I get my California learners permit?

Once you've received your certificate of completion you can make an appointment at your local DMV to take your permit test. The DMV will require additional information from you, so be sure to be prepared. Once you pass the test, you will be granted a California provision permit, which will allow you to begin supervised behind-the-wheel training to prepare you for your driving test.

I want to take this course. How do I get started?
